Although prices now-days are not as low as they used to be there are still much interesting shopping to do in Budapest. Prices on clothes (leather), shoes, jewelry and cosmetics are still lower than most of the West European countries. Books are also really cheap and there are many fine English bookstores in Budapest . Not to mention all delicious Hungarian gourmet specialities like salami, the hot paprika-spice, goose-liver, Tokay wines and of course the palinka the spirit made of fruits like pear, apple, cherry and other fruits.
